Norma E. Boyd 5K Race for Education

Mark your calendars for the 13th annual Norma E. Boyd 5K Race for Education on Sunday, September 20, 2026. This event, hosted by the Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® in collaboration with the Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation, Inc. (PIEF), honors the 40th anniversary of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® founder Norma E. Boyd’s passing. Norma E. Boyd, born on August 9, 1888, was a native Washingtonian dedicated to educational and humanitarian pursuits for children throughout her 97 years of life. She was an incorporator and founding member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® and a charter member of the Xi Omega Chapter. Since 2013, the Norma E. Boyd 5K Race for Education has raised over $118,000, directly supporting PIEF's mission to provide college scholarships for District of Columbia high school students. About the Organizers: PIEF: Established in 1988, PIEF is a 501(c)(3) organization providing scholarships to deserving college-bound high school seniors and continuing college students in the District of Columbia. Comprised of college-educated, professional women and community volunteers, PIEF serves as the fundraising arm and primary funder for the Xi Omega Chapter's service programs. Xi Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®: As the oldest and largest graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® in Washington, D.C., Xi Omega boasts a rich history of community service and commitment to education over the past 100 years. In addition to annually awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships with PIEF, the chapter provides a range of service programs focusing on educational enrichment, health and wellness, family strengthening, environmental ownership, and global impact. Race Packet Pick-up: Saturday, September 19, 2026: At the Health and Wellness Expo from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2025 (Race Day): Between 6:45 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., prior to the race start. Late arrivals will not be permitted on the course.
