About this race
The GREAT SNAKE RIVER MULTI-SPORT EVENT returns on Saturday, August 15th, 2026, at Snake River Landing in downtown Idaho Falls—and it continues to be the largest and most iconic event produced by Tri Peaks Epic Events each summer.
Formerly known as the Great Snake River Triathlon, this expanded multi-sport festival now offers multiple ways to race, making it accessible for first-time participants, exciting for seasoned athletes, and unforgettable for spectators.
The Famous Down-River Swim
This race is known for one thing above all else:
A downstream swim in the Snake River
Triathletes love it because the natural river current gives you a boost, making this swim:
Faster
Smoother
Less intimidating for first-time triathletes
It’s one of the most unique and talked-about swim courses in the region—and a favorite year after year.
At all Tri Peaks Epic Events, you can expect a clearly marked course, friendly volunteers, and an encouraging race-day atmosphere that helps you feel confident from start to finish.
