According to the National Institute of Deafness and Communication Disorders (2024), 37.5 million people ages 18 and over report experiencing issues with hearing. As these numbers continue to grow, the students and faculty in West Virginia University's Communication Sciences and Disorders department actively work year-round to raise public awareness about hearing loss and its prevention through various community service activities. This year, the Student Academy of Audiology is reviving one of its most successful initiatives to raise awareness and funds in support of the local community. All proceeds will benefit the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) Student and Patient Fund, which will be used for patients with financial challenges and supports students' continuing education through conference attendance.
