
Pink Cheeks Triathlon | 5K Run, 10K Bike, 600-Yard Swim

Seward Parks & Recreation is proud to start your race season with our annual Pink Cheeks Triathlon in Seward, Alaska! The Pink Cheeks Triathlon is open to all ability levels. There are two options to compete in the Pink Cheeks Triathlon: Option 1. Compete as a team. Sign up as a team that consists of 3 individuals with 1 individual competing per segment. Team competitors must be over 8 years old. Option 2. Compete as a soloist. Soloists must be aged 13 or older . Kids aged 8-12 can only compete as a part of a team. Additional Race Information This year's race will begin with the 5K run, transition to the 10K bike ride, and finish with the 600-yard swim 5K Run and 10K Bike Segments: Both the 5K run and 10K bike will start and finish at Seward High School (course will vary). Race terrain inclines as you run and bike, and includes high school cross-country trails, city streets, and minimal gravel roads. At this time of year, snow may still be present on the cross-country trails. 600-Yard Swim Segment: Swim segments can be completed early between 8:00 am and 9:30 am; early swimmers must be able to swim 12 laps in 15 minutes or less. For an early swim time, please email sportsandrec@cityofseward.net or call 907-224-4054. Team swimmers will begin their segment at the 10:00 am start time. Race Rules and Re quirements: Teams must consist of 3 members Bikers are required to wear helmets. Bikers without a helmet will be disqualified. Bikers are required to provide their own bike stand in the bike queue. No spectators are allowed in the pool area. Your bib number will be marked on your right upper arm for officials’ use in the pool. Team swimmers MUST be present at bib check-in to have bib number marked on the upper arm. No assistive devices are allowed in the pool unless required as an ADA adaptive device as a reasonable accommodation (Please notify us of your needs ASAP at 224-4054 to allow us to plan ahead and smoothly transition you). Goggles and swim caps are allowed. No snorkels, fins, gloves, etc. Bikers will need to mount their bike after they have crossed the timing mat at the start of the race, and will need to dismount before crossing the black and red mat for the finish. Your transition time will not stop between the run and bike, but transition time will stop during swimming. Bib Pick Up There will be two options for bib pick up: Option 1: Friday, May 1st at AVTEC gym located at 519 4th Ave, Seward, AK from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Option 2: Race day, Saturday May 2nd at the Seward High School located at 2100 Swetman St, Seward, AK, 99664 from 8:00 - 9:45 am
