Payson Orchards Triathlon, 12U Super Sprint Triathlon and 5K walk/run Saturday, June 14, 2025 655 S Main St, Payson, UT 84651 7:00 a.m. Sprint & 5K race start 8:30 a.m. 12 & Under Tri Start What I love about this race: We think it's the prettiest sprint run and bike course in Utah! What brings people back year after year are the beautiful orchards we bike through on a relatively flat course; the friendly spectator area, including a kids playground, bounce house, and vendors; an awesome finisher medal; an accurate timing chip system; free photos, an easy and fun swim, not to mention the small-town race feel! The perfect triathlon for first-time triathletes or those seasoned athletes looking for a fun, fast, and beautiful sprint triathlon! Our race is a reverse-order triathlon (run, bike, and then we end with the swim). In 2025 we will again offer a 12 and under kids super-sprint triathlon! We will also be offering a 5K walk/run. And new to our race in 2025 - each participant will receive four family wristbands for early entry to Payson Pool's open swim at 9:00 a.m.! On their way back, runners will turn left one block earlier than the "out" road onto 800 south, and then one last right onto Main Street to come into T1. The 5K ONLY runners will use the same 5K course, at the same time, leaving at 7 a.m. RUN ROUTE ON STRAVA. T1 Runners will enter Transition 1 (T1) from the Main Street side, grab their bikes and helmets and exit out the other side of the transition area. BIKE* Racers will leave the transition area on foot, mount their bicycles on the road, and will continue along an 11-mile route. Cycling through blooming cherry orchards and beautiful farms is what makes this relatively flat ride worth a try. Coming up over the freeway overpass and back into downtown Payson, racers will have unobstructed views of the Payson LDS temple, as well as miles and miles of south Utah County. BIKE ROUTE ON STRAVA. T2 Dismounting your bike on Main Street, participants will walk their bikes into the transition area to prepare for the last leg of the race, the swim! Swim For the first time in Payson Orchards Triathlon history, we will have the swim be the last of the three disciplines. After exiting T2, racers will make their way barefooted to the south east corner of the pool, coming in the side gate and enter the pool while watching out for other swimmers. Swimmers will “snake” up and back in each lane, staying to the RIGHT side of the lane, and then under the lane line (only on the south side of the pool) to repeat until they exit the pool after swimming in all six lanes, equaling 300 yards. Racer's times will stop when they exit the pool and walk over the timing mat. 12 and UNDER SUPER-SPRINT TRI: RUN: Triathlete boys and girls will make their way around the ball fields for a mile run. Route will be marked by stickers and will be led by a Payson Cross Country athlete. RUN ROUTE BIKE: The 2-mile route is a loop on quiet Payson City streets. Volunteers will help riders take left turns (2), and right turns will be marked. Route will also be led by a seasoned cyclist. BIKE ROUTE SWIM: Racers will snake up and down the pool for four lengths (100 yards). Life jackets are permitted. ***One parent or trusted adult is welcome to race alongside their children if needed.*** TIMING CHIP SYSTEM AWESOMENESS RunnerCard will be providing our chip timing, and they do a phenomenal job. Shortly after you finish, you can pick up a print out of your time and ranking. FINISH LINE/SPECTATOR AREA While you’re exhausting yourself out on the course, your family and friends can enjoy a fun spectator area filled with vendors, kid’s activities, and music. When you cross that finish line, we'll drape you in your finisher medal! You did it! EARLY ACCESS TO OPEN SWIM! To make our event even more family-friendly, this year we're adding in four (4) free wristbands to Payson Pool's open swim with early entry at 9:00 a.m.! Triathletes and their families will be able to enjoy the lazy river, the large and small slides, and the diving boards as soon as all racers have completed the triathlon. Open swim usually opens at 11:00 a.m., but for you - you can enter shortly after you race! If you need more than four wristbands, you can purchase more during registration for only $3 each (normal entry is $5).
