The 48th Annual Lone Star Stampede
Start your 2027 with purpose, pride, and the power of community. The 48th annual Lone Star Stampede is a Houston tradition that unites runners, walkers, University of Texas alumni, and supporters for a day of fitness, fun, and giving back.
Hosted by the Texas Exes Houston Chapter, this annual event features a 10K, 5K, Kids Dash, and an exciting new addition—our first-ever HALF MARATHON, welcoming participants of all ages and fitness levels.
More than just a race, the Lone Star Stampede is about making an impact—proceeds fund scholarships for Houston area students pursuing their dreams of higher education at The University of Texas at Austin. As a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Texas Exes Houston Chapter is committed to fostering the next generation of Longhorn leaders while strengthening the bonds of our Houston community.

Dreaming of having your Lone Star Stampede-inspired design on our shirt? Submit your design to our contest! The winner will be voted on at our Texas Exes Houston Chapter meeting. Please submit your design to lonestarstampede@texasexes.com by 05/01/2026.
Winners will receive a free race entry of your choice AND a prize (to be announced)
Shirt designs should have "Lone Star Stampede", and we encourage the use of "48th Annual" or "2027" in your design.
Shirt designs may not include copyrighted UT Austin items (UT Tower, Bevo, Longhorn logo, etc.)

Half Marathon: Course approximately the 10K looped twice within Brazos River Park
10K: Out-and-back course within Brazos River Park
5K: Out-and-back course within Brazos River Park
Kids Dash: Short out-and-back route
Chip-timed Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
Strollers: Allowed for 5K walkers
No pets permitted on the course
