Help Arizona residents build a better and brighter future while they journey life with Spina Bifida! Spina Bifida is the most common permanently disabling birth condition, yet the state of Arizona does not recognize it as a developmental disability after the age of six. These children experience lack of care continuity, often have as many as 30 surgeries by the age of 15, and are usually full time wheelchair users. The Spina Bifida Association of Arizona is an organization that advocates for those with spina bifida as well as brings awareness, provides programs, supplies, and services. One of the services we provide is providing adaptive cycles to children and adults; that is where the proceeds for this event go. Heels4Wheels raises funds to assist with costs of bike repair/replacement and the cost of placing a bike. When a child experiences the joy of being active and having freedom to move about on a bike, this will often lead to a more active lifestyle and better health.
