Carter Lake Crossing

PARKING, PACKET PICKUP, AND BUS TRANSPORTATION Arrive early. Parking is limited at Carter Lake. Packet Pickup begins at 5:00 AM. Packet Pickup will be on race morning at Carter Lake prior to boarding the buses. Each swimmer will be assigned a time slot for packet pickup and bus loading. Swimmmers will be bussed from the parking areas at the South Shore Campground to the North Pines Boat Ramp for the Start. All swimmers will be given a "Bus Slot" of either 5:30 or 6:00. Bus slots will be provided to swimmers so that busses are "half-full" (i.e. most swimmers will have their own seat). You can bring a bag with you, since there will be a 15-45 minute wait at the North Pines Ramp before the start. Please label that bag with your name and race number and place it in the bag drop area. We will bring it to the finish at the South Shore Boat Ramp for you. Swimmers who miss their "Bus Slot" will not be able to start. START The Carter Lake Crossing will be a "wet" start at 6:30 AM. All participants will start simultaneously. Swimmers will swim south from North Pines Boat Ramp to the South Shore Boat Ramp along the west shoreline, following buoys along the way. Time cut-offs: You must capable of completing the distance and be able to complete the three miles within two and a half hours (2.5 hours)!
